What is a Lutheran?
The name “Lutheran” is derived from the name of a 16th century theologian, Dr. Martin Luther. His greatest and most lasting contribution to the church is the understanding that our God is a gracious God. The following summarizes the core content of our Christian faith:

Luther Seal
Scripture — The Bible is the living word of our living Lord. Scripture is our guide and standard for faith and life. We believe it is God’s divinely inspired word to us because it leads us to Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

Grace — The Bible has one target as it speaks to us – our hearts. When it comes to spiritual matters, the inmost self often asks, “What must I do? Who must I be?” Grace responds by saying, “It has already been done for you.” God’s grace (undeserved love) comes to us finally, fully and eternally in the person of his Son, Jesus Christ

Faith — There is nothing we can add to what God has already done for us in Jesus. Salvation comes through faith, and even our faith is a gift from God!
